Metrologic teamed up with DCS at the Control Messe exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany, to present a comprehensive and integrated Metrology Solution. This combined solution showcases Model Based Definition in action as the entire process is powered by the Digital Twin and PMI, with connected software systems fully leveraging Quality 4.0 to pass information along.
During the digital design phase, 3DCS, a variation analyst tool integrated into CAD, provides the tools to test, simulate, and create robust designs. These designs provide critical characteristics and high-risk features that are important to metrology for monitoring during production. The optimized GD&T additionally lowers manufacturing costs in non-critical areas while reducing the risk of non-conformances. Utilizing this PMI of the Digital Twin (GD&T) is the driving force of the entire process, associated with CAD and machine readable for consumption downstream.
The GD&T created and optimized in 3DCS is then passed to Silma, which creates a measurement plan from the data. This plan can be programmed offline, keeping your line running while programming takes place. Silma interprets the GD&T into a CMM or measurement program that can be simulated to ensure that it is error- and collision-free. In addition, its collision detection and automatic collision removal tools give you the ability to visualize, optimize, and update in real-time your entire probing path. Once complete, the measurement program is sent to MetrologX4 to pilot your CMM and measurement devices.
Whether you have a Wenzel CMM, a FARO measurement arm, a vision scanning system; Metrolog X4 can utilize your measurement plan and make it a reality. With a plethora of tools for improving performance, Metrolog X4 simplifies day-to-day measurements and provides the ability to view your measurement data before sending it downstream.
The PMI and GD&T are now accompanied by measurement data from production showing its conformance to specification. From here, the data is automatically read into a quality management system for monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
QDMWEB QI [NEW!] imports the measurement data in real-time as it is gathered by your devices. Metrologic technology seamlessly feeds the system to keep it up to date with minute-by-minute results, providing your team with real insight into your overall quality. The data is then available as customizable dashboards and SPC reports. If the system detects trends that approach any of your specification limits, it will notify key stakeholders and provide immediate insight into the issue. This allows your team to focus on what they do best, without having to constantly sort through long Excel sheets of XYZ coordinates and outputs. Graphical reports and screens instantly show where problems are, when they began, and where in the manufacturing process.
Should an issue that cannot be quickly resolved arise, the measurement data can be quickly sent back to the design group for simulation and analysis, testing a solution to prove out its success before moving forward.
