Hosted by Metrologic Group and SME Chapter 069 Oakland/Macomb, local businesses, students, and professionals discovered how Metrologic is revolutionizing the manufacturing industry with cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions.
SME, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, is a non-profit organization focused on connecting academics with real-world professionals to foment the continuation of the manufacturing industry. As part of SME's outreach efforts, they work with local businesses to set up tours and discussions in order to educate both university students as well as other professionals across the manufacturing spectrum.
This tour and talk at Metrologic Group's Wixom, MI office provided a unique opportunity to see metrology in person, and to better understand how metrology impacts manufacturing from both a quality and cost standpoint.
During the tour at Metrologic, local manufacturers had the opportunity to explore the innovative technologies that Metrologic has developed. These technologies are at the forefront of the metrology industry and have the potential to revolutionize the way businesses operate. By taking advantage of these innovative technologies, local manufacturers can gain a competitive edge in both efficiencies, by improving the speed and accuracy of measurements, as well as quality, by improving quality control processes by utilizing the elements of model-based definition.
As part of the tour, local manufacturers had the chance to explore Metrologic's state-of-the-art facilities. These facilities are equipped with a variety of metrology devices to demonstrate. With an emphasis on the 5-axis CMM capabilities from Renishaw and powered by MetrologX4, presenters from Metrologic demonstrated how this new technology allows for more precise measurements while also improving the speed at which measurements can be captured.
